Just blocks from trendy Tao and Beauty & Essex, the new Da Barbara brings authentic Italian cuisine to Hollywood.

Chef Barbara Polastrini has opened a beautiful, cozy restaurant in the heart of Hollywood with just a few tables and a clear view of the small chef’s kitchen.
Inside, the two-story, high-ceilinged 14-story home features dark green walls, wooden floors, a huge beautiful chandelier, classy table settings including beautiful glassware and plates, and a small kitchen where all the magic happens. There is a restaurant with seating.
We enjoyed a delicious 7 course dinner that included warm little rolls, homemade ricotta and roasted tomatoes. A small tart with mushrooms, beef tartare, caramelized onions and hazelnuts. Gnocchi with guanciale, artichoke and grated egg yolk. Pumpkin tortellini with candied orange and pear in Pecorino Romano white fondue, filet mignon and seasonal vegetables wrapped in Parma ham and Parmigiano-Reggiano, semifreddo with licorice and mint, cannoli with sabayon cream and apple dessert. We have a fixed menu, so you can enjoy a wonderful dinner just by visiting our restaurant.
Chef Polastrini is particular about both the ingredients, most of which come directly from Italy, and the preparation, which can take weeks for the ingredients to be reflected in the dishes. She changes her menu regularly so that even if guests visit her small restaurant often, they never eat the same meal.
Da Barbara is the perfect place for a first date, an impressive Valentine’s Day dinner, or to enjoy authentic Italian cuisine with friends. For larger groups, there are two large tables at the top of the stairs. I plan on coming back every few months to enjoy this delicious food straight from Rome.
Da Barbara is located at 6411 Fountain Avenue LW4 and reservations should be made through OpenTable. Open Wednesday to Saturday from 7pm to 10pm.
