Search intensifies for missing Fort Lauderdale woman in Spain

Must read

Fort Lauderdale, Florida – The last time I heard from Ana Knezevic was on February 2nd, when I was away from Madrid. Loved ones and friends of a missing Fort Lauderdale woman are sick and worried.

A friend, Sanna Rameau, told Local 10 News it had been 18 days since Knezevic was last seen leaving Spain.

“I’m really devastated. I think about Ana every minute of the day,” Rameau said. “She couldn’t imagine anyone trying to hurt her. She’s the kindest person.”

The search for a missing 40-year-old man is intensifying, with posters being put up in Madrid.

“The police entered her apartment, but they won’t say much about the investigation,” Rameau said. “My understanding is that this is a high-priority case.”

Knezevich left Fort Lauderdale for Spain last December after divorcing her husband of 13 years, David Knezevich.

According to friends and family, she was scheduled to board a train to Barcelona with a friend on February 5, but did not show up at the station.

Rameau said she last spoke to Knezevic on February 2, the day she disappeared, and that she received strange messages from her claiming to have met someone.

Rameau doesn’t believe the message came from a friend.

“The way it was written was strange. That’s not how she wrote it,” Rameau said. “It also says about that Friday that she met a man the day before, so there’s misinformation there. She hasn’t told anyone that she met anyone that day.”

Around the time of Knezevic’s disappearance, someone spray-painted the lenses of two security cameras in her apartment complex and disabled the camera at the building’s entrance.

Knezevic’s loved ones said her estranged husband left for Serbia in January.

David Knezebisch was not seen at the couple’s Fort Lauderdale home Tuesday, and phone calls went unanswered.

Rameau said he went to Spain to help with the search for Ana Knezevic. She said David Knezewicz never helped with the search, and she was disappointed he didn’t.

“He believed there was nothing he could do. As long as her investigation was in Spain, he believed there was nothing he could do in Spain.”

David Knezewicz has not been charged with any crime and has not been named a person of interest in the case.

Local 10 News reached out to his attorney but did not receive a response as of press time.
