Jannik Sinner became the first Italian male tennis player in 48 years to win a Grand Slam tournament, with celebrities and clubs from Italian football taking to social media to congratulate the 22-year-old.
Milan were one of the first teams to praise the tennis star after winning the Australian Open on Sunday. Sinner, 22, is a passionate Rossoneri fan and appeared at the San Siro for the Champions League match against Borussia Dortmund in November this year.
He had helped Italy win the Cup just a few days ago and the entire San Siro crowd praised him before the match.
Juventus, Roma and Inter also congratulated Sinner on social media on Sunday. Lega Serie A posted the famous carrot to symbolize the Italian tennis player on X (formerly Twitter).
Many on the peninsula will play Sunday’s Sinners final against Russia’s Daniil Medvedev, including Tottenham goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario, Sassuolo and Italy star Domenico Berardi, who will miss today’s game against Monza due to a knee injury. Soccer officials watched. Side job for more than a month.
As Sinner was coming back from two sets down, Berardi and others like him were impressed by his mentality: “A phenomenon, never giving up,” the Sassuolo star wrote.
