Singapore Food Authority recalls Vietnamese Lee Chuan seafood rolls due to undeclared egg allergen

SINGAPORE, Feb 8 — The Singapore Food Authority (SFA) today announced that it is recalling a brand of seafood rolls because the product contained eggs but did not say so on the package label. .

In a statement today, the SFA announced that it has instructed Lee Chuan Food Products, the importer of Lee Chuan Seafood Rolls, to recall the product.

The product is from Vietnam and has an expiry date of January 7, 2026, the SFA added.

An online search shows a variety of the company’s products, including crab sticks and fish balls, are sold at FairPrice supermarkets, but seafood rolls are not listed.

The SFA states that although eggs do not pose a food safety issue for most consumers, eggs are an allergen and may be allergic to those who are sensitive to eggs, such as those with intolerances or allergies to its ingredients. He said it could cause a reaction.

“Singapore food regulations require that foods containing ingredients known to cause sensitivities be listed on food packaging labels to protect consumers with food allergies.

“All ingredients contained in prepackaged foods should be listed on the product label in order of their weight percentage,” the agency added.

The SFA said it is asking consumers who have purchased the product not to eat it if they have an intolerance or allergy to eggs. Anyone who has done so should seek medical attention.
