Singapore ship registration reaches 100 million total

of Singapore Ship Register (SRS) AET’s Very Large Crude Carrier (VLCC) Eagle Veracruz was registered on January 23, 2024, passing a gross tonnage (GT) milestone.

SRS is administered by: Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA). Founded in 1966 and managing approximately 4,000 ships of over 100 million gross tonnage, SRS is one of the world’s largest ship registries with the youngest and highest quality fleet.

eagle veracruzis a dual-fuel LNG VLCC, named after the Mexican state of Veracruz, where one of Mexico’s oldest ports is located, and will be over 330 meters long and have a capacity of over 156,000 GT. The vessel is equipped with several energy efficient design features and technologies that reduce fuel consumption. These include an optimized hull shape, an enhanced rudder design to improve stability and maneuverability, and a wake duct to improve propeller efficiency. The main engine is built on a modular concept, allowing for the option of modification to run on low- or zero-carbon fuels in the future.

SRS focuses on maritime Digitalization and decarbonization. Twenty-two newly registered vessels in Singapore have obtained Greenship certificates under the Greenship Program in 2023. MPA expects more eco-friendly vessels to use Singapore as their flag of choice in the coming years.
