A woman who knocked over a pot of boiling hot soup on a man, causing burns to nearly a third of his body, was sentenced to four years in prison on Thursday.
Lim Si Hui, 33, pleaded guilty on January 2 to voluntarily causing grievous bodily harm by using a heated substance.
A separate charge of voluntarily causing bodily harm by slapping the same victim three times was also taken into consideration during sentencing.
Mr Lim and the victim, Martin Boye, began an argument just before 11pm on April 19, 2022, after Mr Lim’s mobile phone was allegedly damaged by Mr Boye. Court documents do not say whether the two men know each other.

A member of the public called the police after Lim slapped a boy in a fit of anger at a bar in his hometown of Singapore. They then moved outside to talk.
Despite her husband’s attempts to stop her, she insisted and headed to the restaurant.
At about 11:40 p.m., Lim entered the hot pot restaurant where Boy was present and tipped him a pot of boiling soup.
The soup fell on his lower body and legs.
Feeling excruciating pain, Boy got up from his chair to take off his T-shirt, but slipped and fell on top of the soup on the floor.
Private television footage of the incident shown in court showed Ms Lim then standing by a table, pointing at the victim and speaking angrily.
He had to undergo four skin grafts and was discharged from the hospital on May 18, about a month after the incident.
The incident also caused him to see a psychiatrist for post-traumatic syndrome.
