On Friday, 39-year-old Singaporean Benjamin Huang Junloong was sentenced to two years and one month in prison.

He pleaded guilty to two counts of sexual penetration of a minor and two counts of voyeurism, and eight additional charges were considered.

The court heard that Mr Huang joined Sugarbook in mid-2018 with the intention of having a sexual relationship in exchange for financial support.

In December 2020, he found the profile of the first victim, named A1 in court documents, on the website.

The website requires members to be at least 18 years old, so A1 listed herself as 19 years old in her profile.

Huang started chatting with A1 on the website, then moved to Telegram and eventually met her.

The two met five times in December 2020 and January 2021 and had sex and related acts. Mr. Huang did not confirm Mr. A1’s age.

Mr. A1 confided in Mr. Huang about his family problems and said that he wanted to rent an apartment. She said she joined Sugarbook because she was working part-time at a restaurant to cover her expenses and she was financially strapped.

Shortly after their first meeting, A1 began ignoring Huang’s messages. When he asked for more details, she said she didn’t want anything to do with him.

So Mr. Huang asked if he could meet her if he gave her some money, and she agreed.

They met for sex and Ms Huang offered to pay A1 S$1,800 a month to help with entertainment expenses and the rent of the apartment. A1 agreed and first received her S$900 from a fan.

On December 26, 2020, Mr. A1 went out drinking with friends before accepting Mr. Huang’s request to meet at his home.

She arrived and dozed off on Huang’s bed. The next morning, Ms. Huang placed her mobile phone on the bedside table and she filmed the sexual act with Mr. A1 without Mr. A1’s knowledge.

Fan filmed the second sex scene in January 2021, for which he paid A1 S$500. After that, Mr. A1 stopped seeing Mr. Huang because he did not want to continue the relationship.

Mr. Huang was arrested in March 2021 on suspicion of engaging in commercial sex with a minor. His devices were seized and incriminating videos were found inside them.

The investigation revealed a sexual video of the second victim, 21-year-old A2. A2 met fans through Sugar Book in 2019.

Mr. A2 also faced financial difficulties and suffered from depression.

In August 2019, Mr. Huang became Mr. A2’s sugar daddy and offered to pay him if he provided sexual services.

Fan told A2 that he had a girlfriend and had to use a fake name on his cell phone to avoid being caught.

The two had sex at least 10 times between August 2019 and January 2021, and Ms Huang paid A2 more than S$16,000.

He took a total of eight images and 17 videos of intimate acts between himself and A2 without A2’s consent.

He would hide the cell phone in a bag or other object and would take it out when A2 went to the bathroom after sex.

Fan also met the third victim, 25-year-old A3, on the dating app Tinder in late 2019 or early 2020.

The two met eight times for sex at Huang’s home, and Huang recorded the sex acts with a small wireless camera mounted on top of a TV mounted on the wall opposite his bed.

A total of eight videos of approximately 1 hour each were recorded in this way.

Huang saved video recordings of the three victims and transferred selected videos to another device so he could watch the clips on a larger screen.

Deputy Public Prosecutor Sruthi Boppana asked for a sentence of 26 to 32 months in prison for Phan.

He said that Hwang had taken at least five videos of A1 when she was a minor, and that his act of offering to pay her “increases his responsibility.”

Regarding the filming of the intimate video, Boppana said the fact that Phan “kept records that were re-watched after the incident” repeatedly violated the victim’s privacy.

Prosecutors said the victim was clearly identified because the video showed the victim’s face and Phan had labeled the video with her name.

The judge allowed Huang to begin his sentence on February 13.
