Innovation in national recognition documents
Piqueras took the opportunity to reflect on the evolution of DNI, which has seen numerous changes since its founding in 1944.
He said the current version is a highly secure document that serves not only as proof of Spanish nationality, but also as a travel document and tool for telematic transactions.
“The DNI that we carry in our wallets today is a document with the latest security standards.
“It is no longer only a proof of Spanish personhood and nationality, but also a travel document and, thanks to its contacts and wireless connectivity, a means to carry out telematic transactions,” he said.
