MADRID — Spain will allocate approximately 900 million euros (US$968 million) to 10 projects for the production, transportation and development of renewable hydrogen, Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez announced on Tuesday.

He said the renewable energy sector has contributed to the creation of more than 50,000 jobs in Spain in the past five years, with 130,000 people currently working in the sector and the workforce expected to exceed 500,000 by 2030. He said that.
He said Spain has a “unique opportunity” to harness renewable energy, with more than 80% of Spain’s electricity coming from renewable sources by 2030, ending its dependence on fossil fuels and achieving energy independence. According to official Spanish data, by 2023 more than half of Spain’s electricity will come from renewable energy sources, reducing CO2 emissions from electricity generation by more than 50 percent compared to 2018.
