Finance, Trade and Enterprise Minister Carlos Cuerpo said the EPA data was “extraordinary” and noted that 2023 was an “excellent” year in terms of labor market performance.

Malaga was the fourth region in the country to have the highest absolute employment growth rate, after Barcelona, Madrid and Valencia. However, Malaga’s unemployment rate remains higher than the national average at 16.5%.
Across the Andalucía region, unemployment decreased by 40,500 people and 130,800 jobs were created in 2023. However, the unemployment rate in this region is 17.6%, 5.84 points higher than the national unemployment rate of 11.76%.
