Spain’s Valencia region offers subsidies to projects that use renewable thermal energy, such as geothermal or hydrothermal energy.
A call for aid has been made for renewable thermal energy projects in the residential, industrial and agricultural sectors in the Spanish region of Valencia. The total budget for the Renewable Thermal Energy Program, which is part of the European Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan, is €10.24 million.
The Valencia Institute for Business and Competitiveness (Ivace) has declared the deadline for applying for incentives until July 31, 2024.
Manuel Arguelles, Director General of Energy and Mines, said that 35% of the costs of the projects in question will be covered by aid. This can increase by 10% for small businesses and 5% for medium-sized businesses.
In addition, projects in the field with demographic challenges can apply for an additional 5% funding. This applies to municipalities with no more than 5,000 residents, or non-urban municipalities with no more than 20,000 residents and all individual population entities with no more than 5,000 residents.
Councilor Nuria Montes underlined the Council’s commitment to the decarbonization of the economy and energy autonomy, which needs to be compatible with the successful development of renewable energy from environmental, social and economic perspectives. Stated.

Projects that utilize geothermal energy, hydrothermal energy, air thermal energy, solar thermal energy, and biomass energy can apply. District heating and cooling microgrid projects are also eligible.
Supported thermal applications include:
- household hot water
- air conditioning
- Heating and cooling directly or via heating and/or cooling microgrids
- Hot tub for surface treatment
- Pasteurization and preservation of fresh produce
- Industrial warehouse air conditioning
- livestock and greenhouse
- Providing laundry services
- car wash
- Boiling, sterilizing, washing, drying, washing, bleaching, steaming, pickling, cooking, leaching
