Spain Park Cruise wins over Tuscaloosa County

Hoover – The Spain Park Jaguars picked up another victory before the start of area play with a dominant 56-34 victory at home against the Tuscaloosa County Wildcats on Tuesday, January 2nd.
While the Wildcats made two 3-pointers in the first quarter, the Jags scored 12 points in the first quarter and entered the second quarter with a six-point lead, including five points from TJ Lamar.
Jackson Bradley made two 3-pointers in the second quarter to power Spain Park’s offense, outscoring Tuscaloosa County and extending the lead to nine points at halftime.
From there, the teams traded baskets in the third quarter, but the Jags made six field goals during the period, including five points by Nick Richardson and four points by Lamar.
Spain Park entered the fourth quarter with a 10-point lead, but the hosts gave it their all until the end to put the game out of reach and secure the victory.
The Jags offense gave up 18 points in four innings and the defense allowed just six points in the final eight minutes, but Chapman Blevins and Corbin Long each scored five points.
This put the finishing touches on a 22-point victory for Spain Park in the final game before area play begins.
Long led the Jags with 13 points, with Lamar right behind him with 12 points. Richardson had nine points, Bradley and Harrison Stewart each had six points, and Blevins had five points, all in the fourth quarter.
