Live streaming capabilities of body-worn cameras
Police officers deployed during the countdown were equipped with body-worn cameras (BWCs) that could activate live streaming capabilities if necessary. Live footage enhances police sense-making capabilities and improves situational awareness when responding to incidents in the field.
Crowd@MarinaBay app enhancements
To better manage large crowds around the Marina Bay area, the Crowd@MarinaBay app is also now available, allowing the public to better view real-time crowd levels and closure areas.
The Crowd@MarinaBay app used during the 2022 countdown has been enhanced to incorporate new features. This includes the ability for users to see the real-time congestion status of their MRT stations around Marina Bay, as well as wayfinding functionality for users to navigate around Marina Bay.
LED lights for crowd control
To improve crowd management, the Central Police Station has also introduced an innovative range of LED lighting solutions for the countdown. These included LED directional signage boards, reflective arrows and runway lighting installed at various locations in the Marina Bay area to light the way and provide clear direction for crowd movements .
To keep the countdown safe for everyone
About 600 police officers were deployed around Marina Bay for the countdown. Police officers from various police land divisions, special operations commands, protective security commands, public transport safety commands, police coast guard and traffic police will also be working to prevent, detect and deter crime during the festival. Patrols were also strengthened.
Another year has passed as officers continue to keep the public safe and countdown safe.
