TFG Marine, the international marine fuels joint venture formed by Trafigura, Frontline and Golden Ocean, has named the first liquefied natural gas (LNG) duel fuel bunker tanker to join its fleet.
The naming ceremony took place on January 30, 2024 at Keppel Bay Port in Singapore.
The new 5,000 tonne vessel MT Diligence will join the company’s low sulfur fuel oil and biofuel supply operations in Singapore’s major fuel supply centre.
Built and operated by CBS Ventures for TFG, MT Diligence was designed to TFG’s technical specifications, including stringent safety considerations, and can now be powered by LNG and conventional low-sulfur bunker fuels .
“Thanks to our collaboration with CBS Ventures Pte Ltd, we are very pleased to see this modern and efficient vessel at sea. We have grown to become one of the leading suppliers of bunker fuel.” Calling at the Port of Singapore. By deploying LNG-powered vessels, TFG Marine will be able to meet its licensing requirements and commitments to the Singapore Maritime and Port Authority. ” Kenneth Damsaid TFG Marine’s Global Head of Bunkering.
“We are committed to updating our fleet with alternative fuels and supporting Singapore’s decarbonization efforts. The transition to green ships requires additional investment in both capital and technology. MT Diligence would not have been possible without the support of our charterer TFG Marine and banker DBS, who have been our trusted partners and collaborators throughout this journey.” Lim Lilliancommented the director of CBS Ventures.
“We would like to thank the Singapore Maritime and Port Authority for their support and guidance and for sharing our vision for a more sustainable maritime industry.”
The MT Diligence is fitted with a mass flow meter (MFM) as required by the MPA. TFG has long advocated for the global adoption of calibrated MFM to bring the necessary transparency to bunkering.
A recent white paper sponsored by TFG and other key stakeholders acknowledges the success of Singapore’s MFM-based bunker licensing system, proposes it as a template for regulators in other regions around the world, and recommends it as a template for regulators in other regions around the world and It proposes promoting transparency and increasing digitalization for the benefit. Contribute to advancing the shipping industry’s decarbonization goals.
In related news, Italian maritime transportation group Fratelli Koslich recently ordered the first methanol dual-fuel chemical bunker tanker with a capacity of over 8,000 cubic meters and capable of transporting both green methanol and biofuels. The vessel is scheduled for delivery in 2025 and will be deployed to deliver marine fuel to TFG Marine.
