When Malia left The Bachelor for the last time, she was crying and saying, “I just want to go home.” She is tired of the constant attacks, first from Sydney and now from Lee. Ladies, stay in your lane! Have you seen this show? It never ends well for women who worry too much about other competitors and don’t focus on their own journey.

Well then, let’s go. Leah sits Joey down and she tells him that Malia isn’t good enough for her. Joey won’t like this. She tells him, “She’s trying to navigate… gracefully… even though Maria is still here.” In private, she wishes with all her heart that Maria “just go home as she is,” but she does not say that to Joey.

Elsewhere, Maria sucks up tears, puts on big girl panties, and goes to the rose ceremony. At least she doesn’t have to suffer the extra stress of worrying about whether she’ll be able to get a rose or not because she already has one.

Joey finally gets serious and hands out roses. He gives roses to Kelsey A., Caitlin, Daisy, Rachel, Jen, Autumn, Jess, Madina, and Lee. Hmm. I expected him to let her go after she questioned his decision to keep Maria. Joey, Joey, Joey. She’s a troublemaker.

Goodbye, Edwina, Alison. Alison was Maria’s best friend in the group, so she supported her. She might not last long after this.

But surprisingly, Maria exclaims, “I’m staying here.” She just has to “keep her eye on her prize” and focus on Joey. That’s a good plan.

Joey says, “It’s time to open new horizons.” They plan to leave Malta and head to Andalusia, Spain.

A new day in Spain

In Spain, Maria makes a toast: “Cheers to new places, and to all you beautiful women.”

But Leah can’t let it go. “It’s literally heartbreaking,” she says in an interview. That’s just the worst. ”

Maria decided, “Because it works for me and Joey…that’s all that matters to me.” She is good for her. I wasn’t a fan at first, but I don’t like the hate she gets. She doesn’t think she deserves to be treated like this.

Suddenly, Joey gets into a red Vespa. After sitting at an outdoor table with the women, he finally confesses that he has a date. What, you don’t have a date card?

“So, Kelsey A., why don’t you jump on that Vespa and get out of here?” he continued. She just said her grandmother is from Andalusia and this is her first time coming here, so that’s nice.

When Maria asks a hypothetical question, everyone is a little depressed as they watch Joey drive off with another girl. “If Leah hadn’t thrown the 1-on-1 card into the fire… would any of you have received it?”

Kelsey T. admitted that she “definitely” would have kept the card, but added, “I don’t know if I would have used it.”

“If it was a one-time opportunity and I had to cheat to get it, I guess,” Lee says smugly. [and] Please wait for my turn. ” Let’s give that woman a halo!

Ironically, Leah wants to be fair and honest, but she doesn’t mind a little chatter. “if [Maria] I was going to get over the little conflict and go home, but am I really here for Joey? ” she says. But of course not in front of her.

Cruising with Kelsey A

Joey and Kelsey cruise the sunny streets of Spain. After tasting prosciutto and local tomatoes, we’ll sample wine. Someone better take the keys to that Vespa.

Kelsey and Joey seem to be hitting it off, but as they walk to dinner, I see Kelsey wearing those crumpled white slides that look like they came out of grandma’s closet again. Someone needs to take Kelsey shoe shopping for her. Doesn’t she make good shoes in Spain?

They eventually reach a cavernous basement. They’re beautiful, but I’m so distracted by her ugly shoes that I don’t listen to anything they say. I’ll try to concentrate.

Joey feels great about their day together and wants to know more about her. That’s good because she says Kelsey has something to share about her family.

“Family is very important to me,” she begins. “So I wanted people to get to know her mother a little bit more.” Kelsey’s mother was a wonderful woman, but about 10 years ago she was diagnosed with breast cancer, which had metastasized to her bones. I did. Sadly, she lost her battle with cancer. I also lost her father to cancer, so I understand how she feels. You may learn to live with it, but you’ll never get over it.

After listening to Kelsey’s mother’s story, Joey picks up the rose and tells her how much fun he had today. “I knew that to get this job I needed to find someone who was caring, kind and empathetic…and that oozes from you. Your mom would be so proud…Kelsey , could you please accept this rose?”

“Of course,” she replies. In her confessional, Kelsey confesses that she is in love with Joey.

“Our love is a work of art”

When I got back to the hotel and the other women were waiting on the couch, I heard a knock on the door. Date card! Jen reads the card aloud. “Lexi, Daisy, Jen, Autumn, Malia, Caitlin, Madina, Lee, Jess, Kelsey T.: Our love is a work of art. I love you, Joey.” Oh boy. Leah and Maria on a group date. This should be fun.

Rachel is excited to learn that she has another one-on-one date this week, and the others congratulate her.

Joey takes the women to see an artist named Paula. She shows them the words, “I leave my heart on this page, so you don’t have to wonder about my love for you.” Lovely. Women are encouraged to come up with their own sentences to express their feelings about Joey. Then they paint their words on the canvas.

“The person who most clearly communicates their words to Joey will win a special moment with Joey,” says Paula.

Most of their paintings are very amateur, but Leah painted what she considers to be award-winning works of art. She’s beautiful, but she’s too cheeky.

In the end, Jess holds up a picture of a diamond and the slogan, “Our love is something I truly believe in, so our future is as bright as the diamonds I hope to receive.” I won. It’s not that great of prose, but it brings out the “aha” in Paula.

After Jess is announced as the winner, Paula tells her to wear a swimsuit, saying, “This is our first piece of art as a couple.” Um oh. I hope they don’t roll in the paint. You already saw it on The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City, right? But that’s exactly what they’re doing.

Jess is on cloud nine talking about the special time she had with Joey earlier in the day. “But, selfishly, I still want to spend tonight with him,” she admits. Of course I do. And she’s going to piss off some people.

Joey first brings Jen in for a chat. When he asked her how she was feeling, she replied: “It’s been an interesting week for me…emotions were high and there was a lot to process.” Joey is happy with where they’re going. To her surprise, she didn’t mention Maria.

Maria then makes time to spend with Joey. She shares that she grew up primarily with her father and was a big daddy girl (as am I). Her mother left home when she was young, but before she left home, baby Maria and her mother were in a terrible car accident. Both were seriously injured, and Maria was pronounced dead before she could be revived. Her mother fell into severe depression after the accident and was unable to be the mother she wanted to be. She and Maria are still “work in progress.” Maria hopes she can meet Joey since her mother is a fan of Joey.

At the end of the night, Joey offers Maria a rose, which she happily accepts. He is happy that she is opening up to her. She wasn’t too happy about the other women, especially Leah, but she said some really mean things that she won’t repeat. It’s exactly the same thing.

Back at the hotel, Kelsey A. and Rachel are waiting for Rachel’s date card to arrive. Rachel wears smart glasses. She looks cute on her. Suddenly there was a knock on her door and Kelsey went to get her card. Kelsey reads the cards, but my Spanish isn’t very fluent. Thankfully, Rachel translated the message as “Let’s go dancing, my love.” Thank you, Rachel.

The next day, Joey is looking forward to spending time with Rachel. Rachel is excited to go dancing flamenco. Joey and Rachel are given flamenco shoes, but Joey questions his decision to wear shorts. Shorts and boots are not very good for men.

After learning the dance, you will be invited to participate in a show with your group. Although a little nervous, they gamely agree. Someone found Joey some long black pants for the show, so he felt a little better. Rachel is also available with a long black skirt and red blouse, so she looks like she’s up to the task, too. Their dancing isn’t perfect, but they’re having fun.

At dinner, they decide that they feel very comfortable with each other but need to go a little deeper. Rachel shares her experiences of her demanding career as a nurse. I have some friends who are nurses, and I have a son-in-law. They often share the worst moments of their patients’ lives. Rachel says the long hours and mental and emotional stress make it difficult to form romantic relationships with people in the medical field.

But Joey says he’s “committed to a slow burn” and offers her a rose, which she happily accepts.

rose ceremony

As Caitlin is talking to Joey, Maria comes in and asks if she can interrupt. Caitlin says of course it’s no problem and leaves. However, when she returns home, she tells the other women that Maria “stole” Joey from her. Jess gets angry at this and says, “That’s rude.” Er, hello? Didn’t you actually “stole” him from someone else a few weeks ago, when you already had time? How quickly they forget!

Things explode between Maria and Jess, and Jess leaves in tears, but not before hurling some nasty words back at Maria. As she cries in Leah’s girlfriend’s arms, Jesse comes in with a glass of champagne (click, click) and tells her it’s time for the rose ceremony. Jess is still having meltdowns. She blames Maria for not spending time with Joey tonight. she says. “If I don’t get a rose tonight, it’s not fair!” Fair? Oh honey, please calm down. It’s like being in the 6th grade.

Before handing out the roses, Joey says: “Tonight is about trusting your instincts and following your heart.” He presents roses to Jen, Kelsey T., Daisy, Lee, Lexi, Caitlin, and Jess. Can you see Jess? Don’t you think it’s stupid to throw that huge tantrum right now? Goodbye, Autumn, and Madina.

Over the customary post-RC champagne, Joey said he was going to head west for a change of pace. They are going to Montreal, Quebec, Canada. oh dear. It’s cold at this time of year, especially after being in sunny Spain (this show was filmed last fall).

see you next week!
