The estranged husband of a Florida woman who went missing in Spain has ‘fled to Serbia,’ friends say.

A close friend of Ana Knezevic said the estranged husband of a businesswoman who went missing in Florida fled to her native Serbia after being asked to help with the search.

Ms Knezevic, 40, was going through a “tough” divorce from her husband David when she disappeared from her apartment on February 2nd while on holiday in Madrid.

Friends received formal text messages on her cell phone claiming she would be unreachable for several days, and within hours her friend Sanna Rameau called her husband to tell him what he knew. confirmed.

“I suggested we meet in Madrid to help with the investigation and help find Ana,” she said.

“He didn’t come to Madrid. I contacted him again that Friday and he said he went to Serbia instead.”

The couple ran a successful computer support and repair business from their home in Fort Lauderdale.

Ana and Sanna often traveled together on holidays and were in daily contact while Ana was looking for a new apartment in the Spanish capital.

Rameau and Ana’s brother received a series of strange text messages from Ana’s phone claiming she was going out with an “amazing” person she met in town.

An email sent to Ana’s brother Felipe Henao in Spanish read as if it had been sent using Google Translate.

“It’s not her. She doesn’t say that. No one would say that in Spanish,” he said.

According to messages sent from Ana’s cell phone, her new partner had a house two hours from Madrid, and Ana was planning to go there with him for a few days.

The text added that there was “unreliable” phone service where she was going and that she would notify her family when she returned.

“As soon as I received these messages, I knew something was wrong,” Rameau told Cuomo on NewsNation.

“It’s out of the question for her to meet someone on the street and do something like this,” she added.

“I immediately asked her where she was and asked what was going on.

“As I had not heard back by Sunday morning, I contacted the Madrid police myself.”

Rameau personally flew to Madrid on February 8 to speak with police and assist in the search.

“Police said the judge denied their request for access to her apartment and phone records, stating that this could simply be a case of a missing person and that they were not taking it seriously,” she said.

Henao said he was also concerned that Madrid authorities were unprepared to deal with Ana’s case.

“I heard from the Spanish police. I know they are working really hard. I just don’t know if they have all the tools they need,” said the worried brother.

“It turns out we don’t even have detectives who speak English. I think that’s what makes it really difficult. And I think that’s ridiculous.”

But police discovered that on the night she disappeared, a man wearing a motorcycle helmet had disabled a security camera outside her Madrid apartment with black spray.

Neighbors at the couple’s Fort Lauderdale home also said David spent a lot of time paying attention to security cameras.

“She was clearly stressed and upset about being separated from her husband. Their business is very successful, but she seemed to be in good spirits,” Rameau said.

“She never told me she was afraid of anyone.”

The last time she called a friend was hours before she disappeared.

“She was happy, had a great day and sent me a voice message as usual saying she was out in Madrid looking for an apartment,” Rameau said.

“She was telling me about her upcoming trip to Barcelona with friends and was really looking forward to it.”

However, Ana never arrived in Barcelona with her friends.

“All her friends in Madrid are worried and say this is not Ana,” Ramo added.

“Something happened.”

The FBI is working with Spanish police, but Rameau wants more action.

“There are Americans missing overseas and no one in the United States is doing anything about it,” she said.

“There is a strong suspicion of foul play in her disappearance.

“I just want her back. I want the American authorities to cooperate.”
