The Indian Air Force (IAF) Saran Helicopter Exhibition Team held its first practice display in Singapore on Sunday in preparation for its final showcase at the Singapore Air Show scheduled to open on Tuesday.
The Saran team, which arrived in Singapore on February 12, 2024, is stationed at the Singapore Air Force (RSAF) Changi Air Base. The biennial Singapore Airshow opens on February 20, 2024 and runs until February 24, 2024.
The air show features a diverse display team from around the world, with leading aircraft and systems manufacturers and operators displaying their products.
Notably, the Advanced Light Helicopter (Dhruv) manufactured by Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) operated by the Saran team will be making its first appearance at the show.
Interestingly, the Saran team’s first international exhibition was also at the Asia Aerospace Air Show held at Singapore’s Changi Exhibition Center in 2004. This year, the Saran team will be presenting an attractive display of his four helicopters at the Singapore Air Show.
This exhibit has been specially designed to showcase the agility and maneuverability of the ALH Dhruv and highlight the outstanding skills of the IAF pilots who fly these helicopters.
ALH Dhruv and its advanced variants are all indigenously manufactured by HAL and are used by all branches of the Indian Army. The successful integration and operation of this platform is a remarkable proof of self-reliance (Aatmanirbharta) in the defense sector.
The Saran Helicopter Display Team debuted at the 2004 Asian Air and Space Show. Initially formed as a three-helicopter formation, he now has an impressive five-helicopter dynamic display, with over 385 venues around the world where he flies over 1,200 helicopters. Participating in more than 100 exhibitions. .
