Tempo Co., Ltd., jakarta – Transparency International, Global civil society organization based in Berlinhas released its 2023 Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI) and ranks Singapore, the only Asian country in the top 10 least corrupt countries in the world, in fifth place.
The CPI ranks 180 countries and territories around the world based on their perceived level of public sector corruption, with scores ranging from 0 (very corrupt) to 100 (very clean).
According to Transparency.org.au, the world is facing weakened justice systems, reducing public official accountability and increasing corruption.
Transparency International Indonesia also revealed on its website that Indonesia’s CPI has been on the decline for the past five years. Under the guidance of Joko “Jokowi” Widodo. In 2019, it scored 40 points, but in 2022 and 2023 it plummeted to 34 points, ranking 115th out of 180 points.
The CPI shows that many countries have made little or no progress in the fight against corruption. This is evidenced by the fact that the global average score is only 43, with more than two-thirds of countries scoring below her 50.
