Touch of Italy Chef’s Table opens in suburban Rehoboth

Chef’s Table at Touch of Italy opened its doors with its first official event on Valentine’s Day.

Chef’s Table is located on the first floor of a new two-story building in the Touch of Italy location on Coastal Highway outside Rehoboth Beach. Hari Cameron, a James Beard Award-nominated chef who previously owned and operated MUSE. in Rehoboth Beach, now co-owns Grandpa Mac’s on the highway with his brother. spends much of his time consulting and is the culinary director of Chef’s Restaurant. table.

Touch of Italy first opened in downtown Lewes in the fall of 2010 by Bob Ciprietti. There is also a store in Ocean City, Maryland.

Chef’s Table is a new concept at Touch of Italy, with plans for classes, tastings, private event space and special dinners with friends from the culinary world, Cameron said.

A large flat screen monitor hangs from the wall. During the event, the screen looks like art on the wall. He said seven cameras will be installed during the cooking class and a monitor showing the kitchen space will be recorded.

“Bob didn’t want a bad seat in the house,” Cameron said.

Centrally located between Lewes and Ocean City, this new addition is much more than a chef’s table. It also functions as the company’s store.

Touch of Italy’s Cuisine Chef Peter Todd Scioli, who has been with Touch of Italy for nearly 15 years, gave us a quick tour of the new concession area. The space immediately behind the chef’s table on the first floor includes a number of large walk-ins for storage and loading dock space. Upstairs is a huge oven, a mixer with beaters the size of tennis rackets, and plenty of prep space.

The new space will allow everything to be manufactured and shipped daily, Scioli said.
