As part of his official visit to Singapore, Senator Raffy Tulfo met with Singapore’s Minister of Sustainability and Environment Grace Fu to discuss the regulation of waste-to-energy (WTE) facilities in Singapore.
Tuflo, who chairs the Senate Energy Committee, is pushing for similar regulations in the Philippines through the WTE bill.
During the discussion, Mr. Fu mentioned the importance of proper waste management to effectively utilize energy from WTE facilities.
A few hours before the same meeting, Tulfo conducted an on-site inspection of the Keppel Segers Tuas WTE Plant (KSTP) to gather further information about the system and its operation.
Mr. Tulfo said Singapore’s National Environment Agency will be able to operate the WTE plant as it has a control room that can monitor temperature and final waste emissions in real time 24 hours a day, 365 days a year to avoid waste hazards. I admired it.
