The name of the victim, who was wearing snowshoes to get around the mountain, has not been released.
Italian mountain rescue teams on Sunday found the bodies of two hikers after an avalanche struck the Alps near the Swiss border.
Alpine rescue organization CNSAS said in a statement that one victim was buried in snow while the body of another was recovered from a lake after an avalanche at a height of about 2,200 meters in the Val Formazza region of Piedmont. It was announced that the suspect had been discovered.

After the warning was issued at around noon (11pm Japan time), a specialist rescue team was dispatched to the scene by helicopter, despite strong winds in the area. Dogs trained in rescue operations also helped find the bodies.
