Three passengers and one crew member were killed.

Paramedics rushed to the scene but were unable to save the 32-year-old pilot and his passenger. Local police chief Jean-Michel Lejeune said in a statement:

“Unfortunately, two people died on board the plane. It appears the plane failed to land.”

The chief later added that the pilot was from Germany and that the nationalities of the passengers were still under investigation. Additionally, Barron’s reports that environmental protection workers were on the scene to ensure that the fire and billowing smoke did not contaminate the famous bottled spring water near the town of Spa.

The cause of the failed landing is still under investigation by aviation safety regulators. However, strong winds were reportedly blowing at the time of the accident, which may have affected the pilot’s approach.

similar incident

Today’s crash is not the first of its kind in 2024, with a similar crash occurring in the United States just last week. The Beech C99 aircraft crashed in Litchfield, New Hampshire, shortly after takeoff from Manchester-Boston Regional Airport (MHT), Simple Flying reported.

There were several differences between these two cases. However, both accidents involved a lack of flight control by the pilot, with one accident occurring during a landing attempt and the other occurring shortly after takeoff.

Although the plane crashed and the operator, AmeriFlight, lost the plane, the accident was not fatal. Thankfully, emergency services were able to rush the pilot to the hospital and save his life.

Another high-profile crash occurred in Afghanistan earlier this year, when a Dassault Falcon 10 business jet acting as an air ambulance crashed into rugged terrain. There were six people on board the plane at the time.
