The Ukrainian community in Italy has appealed to the city authorities of Modena, asking them not to allow the Russian exhibition on “Prosperity” to be held in Mariupol. report Oles Horodetskyi is the president of the Ukrainian Christian Association and a leader of the Ukrainian community in Rome.
The appeal emphasizes that Russia caused the destruction of Mariupol and the mass killing of civilians. The occupiers took over the city, destroying hospitals, schools, and libraries, and forcing thousands of people to flee.
At the same time, through the planned exhibition, Moscow spread propaganda falsely blaming Ukraine for the Mariupol tragedy and promoting a “rapid reconstruction process” under the auspices of Russian institutions in which Mariupol allegedly entered. It depicts a distorted reality.
“This exhibition supporting Russia’s military aggression contradicts not only the values of justice, freedom, democracy and peace, but also the principles of human rights. Russia’s military aggression should not be praised, but condemned. should be done,” the lawsuit states.
In addition, Modena provides shelter to Ukrainian refugees, including residents of Mariupol, highlighting the Ukrainian community. “We therefore appeal to you to immediately revoke the permit for the event within your authority,” the complaint continues.
Russians in the Italian city of Modena plan to hold a propaganda event on January 20 depicting Mariupol’s supposed “rapid recovery” after the Russian occupation.
Ukraine’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs deemed the incident a provocation. “At the official level, Italy strongly supports Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. We look forward to an appropriate response to this propaganda event,” Ole Nikolenko, spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, stressed.
