Uratex Dream’s 2024 campaign got off to a strong start with the Philippine side reaching the podium at the Jumpshot 3×3 International Tournament held at Bukit Panjang Plaza in Singapore over the weekend.
The quartet of Kay Pingol, Sam Harada, Mikka Kacho and Younique Chan placed third out of 10 teams in the first competition of the year.
Uratex Dream finished second in Pool B, bouncing back from a 21-16 loss to the eventual champions Thailand’s CT Tigers to open the season, and then winning three straight to finish with a record of 3 wins and 1 loss.
After Pingol beat Regina (Singapore) 21-12 to improve the team, the team regained momentum and defeated Singapore’s BAS Women’s B 21-10 and Malaysia Rising Stars 19-18.
However, they could not get past Japan’s Yokohama G-Flo in the semifinals, losing 21-14.
On the other hand, Uratex Tibay finished 3rd in Pool A with a record of 1 win and 3 losses, missing out on a ticket to the semi-finals.
The Singapore tournament is part of the Uratex team’s build-up for Manila Hustle 3×3 Season 2 in February this year.
Meanwhile, TNT Triple Giga advanced to the quarterfinals in the men’s division, but lost to BAS Men B 19-17 in overtime.
