Wood plc (Aberdeen, Scotland) has been selected as owner-engineer for a large-scale green hydrogen production project in Teruel, Spain. Developed by a consortium led by Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners through the Copenhagen Infrastructure and Energy Transition Fund IK/S, the unique Catalina project will combine 1.5GW of wind and solar energy to create a green It will power a 500MW electrolyzer that will produce hydrogen. .
As owner engineer, Mr. Wood will lead the technical lead for Catalina’s green hydrogen production plant, including technology selection, preliminary studies, front-end engineering and design (FEED), and EPC bid support.
Scheduled to produce enough green hydrogen to meet 15% of Spain’s current hydrogen needs, the Catalina project will position Spain as a world-class green hydrogen hub. The hydrogen produced at this facility will not only supply the demands of local, regional and national industries and support the decarbonization of the hard-to-reduce fertilizer and petrochemical sectors, but also contribute to Spain’s and Europe’s renewable hydrogen targets. will also contribute.
