The World Triathlon Education Development Team gathered in Barcelona at ESP from January 22nd to 25th. The team, led by TRI’s Director of NF Services and Development, Zita Chobeljak, took advantage of the unique opportunity of meeting in-person for the first time since 2019. This meeting was for the team to reflect on the year, assess the current state of the project, and clarify the vision for the next 12 months. The conference was designed to address projects planned for 2024.
Setting the stage for a great 2024
Paris 2024 promises to be unique in the history of world triathlon. As the TRI community enters this exciting year, all development projects and programs must be carefully planned to support athletes, coaches, and NFs.
The TRI Educational Development Team achieves numerous successes and milestones through many projects that run in parallel each year. This requires planning and precise end-to-end program design and deployment while navigating a variety of challenges. All of this is done as part of ‘development’, providing coaches, athletes, technical personnel, facilitators, mentors and paratriathletes to support the growth of triathlon and promote the NF in a way that allows everyone to progress in our sport. To do.
Agenda summary
There were nearly 30 topics to discuss during the three days in Barcelona. To give structure to the meeting, all presentations were given by the topic leader or someone involved in the development and design of the project leader. Each presentation detailed ‘where we are’, ‘what we want to achieve by the end of 2024 (and beyond)’, and ‘project proposals and plans’. Discussion on a detailed action plan was then ensured.
World Triathlon Secretary General Antonio F. Alimany attended the first two days and contributed to planning discussions. “It was really great to be part of the discussion on the future strategy for the development of world triathlon education. This result is a great opportunity for athletes, coaches, technical personnel, national and continental federations to develop our sport around the world. We are confident that it will enhance our services.”
Meeting attendees: Leaders: Zita Csovelyak (TRI), Istvan Jankov (TRI) – Coach Education Manager, Dave Foord (GBR) – TRI Education & Knowledge Hub Developer, Vicent Beltran (ESP), Francesco Fissore (ITA), Emma Carney ( AUS) – Contractor and Rolf Ebeling (GER) Advisor.
