🇩🇰 Denmark has decided… Eurovision 2024 is SABA!

Get ready for a theatrical performance from Denmark, as SABA won the Dansk Melody Grand Prix stage and qualified for Eurovision. SABA won the hearts of both the jury and telephone voters with his 37% of the total votes, winning with his entry “Sand”.

SABA, whose full name is Saba Lykke Oehlenschlæger, started out in the music industry. With her debut song “Sand,” she draws on her own experiences to portray her personal growth and resilience, asserting her individuality and self-expression. She is now looking forward to the second Eurovision semi-final on May 9th.

The highly anticipated DMGP event featured exciting competition between eight talented contestants including:

  1. Saba – “sand”
  2. Stella – “Please sign here.”
  3. Chu chu – “The Chase (ZoomZoom)”
  4. Basim – “Johnny”
  5. RoseeLu – “Real Love”
  6. U Blue – “Planetary Hearts”
  7. Janus Wiberg – “I Need Your Love”
  8. Aura Dione “Mirror Ball of Hope”

After a series of suspenseful announcements, three acts advanced to the super finals.

Additionally, Danish musician “eee gee” made a special appearance at the event, singing a tribute to the late Dario Campiotto. It was a beautiful rendition of his song “Angelique,” which won the Dansk Melody Grand Prix in 1961.

SABA clinched victory with 37% of the Super Final votes after a close and intense final tally. Basim, winner of the 2014 competition, secured second place with an impressive televote score, securing 34% of the total votes, while Faroe Islander Janusz Wiberg took the top spot with his performance. It came in 3rd place with 29%. .

This is the 54th edition of the historic Dansk Melody Grand Prix, with Denmark finishing three times in total. The most recent of these dates back to 2013. Last year’s winner, Riley, managed to earn her 33rd place with the song “Breaking My Heart”.
