🇩🇰 Denmark: Dansk Melody Grand Prix 2024 watched by just under 1 million people

Just under 1 million viewers watched the final of the Dansk Melody Grand Prix 2024 in Copenhagen on Saturday night.

The final of Dansk Melody Grand Prix 2024 became the most-watched television broadcast in Denmark last week. The show was watched by an average of 966,000 viewers, giving him over 400,000 more viewers than his second most-watched show domestically.

Viewer interest increased compared to the 2023 edition, with an additional 27,000 viewers watching the competition. This is the first time in three years that viewers’ interest in the Dansk Melody Grand Prix has increased.

The results of the selection were as follows.

  1. SABA – “Sand” 37 points (15 viewer points, 22 judge points)
  2. Basim – “Johnny” 34 points (19 viewer points, 15 judge points)
  3. Janus Wiberg – “I Need Your Love” 29 points (Viewer points: 16 points, Judge points: 13 points)

Other performers at the DMGP finals include:

  • Stella – “Please sign here.”
  • Chu chu – “The Chase (ZoomZoom)”
  • RoseeLu – “Real Love”
  • U Blue – “Planetary Hearts”
  • Aura Dione “Mirror Ball of Hope”

Saba will be representing Sweden at Eurovision 2024, just over the border. He will appear in the first half of the second semifinal match on May 9th.

Denmark first participated in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1957, along with Austria and the United Kingdom. So far Denmark has won this contest three times, the first time being in 1963 when she performed “Dansevis” with Grete and Jorgen Ingman. Denmark also won this contest in 2000, represented by the Olsen brothers. Their most recent win was in 2013 when Emery De Forest performed “Only Teardrops.” Denmark has not reached the final of the Eurovision Song Contest since 2019.
