DR has revealed that Ole Torholm will once again be the commentator for Denmark at the Eurovision Song Contest. Ole is a Danish radio presenter and is no stranger to the role, having been a commentator from 2011 until 2019.

Early this morning, the eight artists for this year’s Dansk Melody Grand Prix were announced, including 2014 Danish representative Basim. The eight acts are:

  • Aura Dione “Mirror Ball of Hope”
  • Basim – “Johnny”
  • Chu chu – “The Chase (ZoomZoom)”
  • Janus Wiberg – “I Need Your Love”
  • RoseeLu – “Real Love”
  • Saba – “sand”
  • Stella – “Please sign here.”
  • U Blue – “Planetary Hearts”

Dansk Melody Grand Prix 2024 will take place on February 17th at the DR Concerttuset in Copenhagen. The show is hosted by Stephanie Srug and Sarah Bro. A combination of jury and public votes will determine the entry to Malmö, Denmark. Unlike in recent years, the number of judges will increase and will include judges from outside Denmark.

Riley won the 2023 edition with ‘Breaking My Heart’ and represented Denmark at Eurovision 2023 in Liverpool. He qualified for the second semi-final, but did not qualify for the grand final. Instead, he received six points only from Icelanders, finishing 14th out of 16 countries.

So far Denmark has won this contest three times, the first time being in 1963 when she performed “Dansevis” with Grete and Jorgen Ingman. Denmark also won this contest in 2000, represented by the Olsen brothers. Their most recent win was in 2013 when Emery De Forest performed “Only Teardrops.” Denmark has not reached the final of the Eurovision Song Contest since 2019.
