Storm Isha hits Ireland with orange wind warning in place for most parts of the country

Status Orange Weather Alerts are in effect for 27 of 32 counties.

Strong winds are expected in Munster, Connacht, Carlow, Dublin, Kilkenny, Longford, Louth, Wexford, Wicklow, Cavan, Monaghan and Donegal as Storm Isha batters Ireland.

Met Eireann warned of potentially dangerous driving conditions, as well as fallen trees and damaged power lines, as “severe and damaging wind gusts” are expected.

A strong wind warning will remain in place for Munster, Connacht, Carlow, Dublin, Kilkenny, Longford, Louth, Wexford, Wicklow and Cavan from 5pm tomorrow Sunday until 2am Monday.

In County Donegal, the warning expires at 5am on Monday.

Meanwhile, in Northern Ireland, the Met Office issued an amber warning for Antrim, Armagh, Down, Fermanagh, Tyrone and Derry on Sunday.
