Queen Mary of Denmark radiates elegance in a Søren Le Schmidt coat dress as she accompanies King Frederick to the change of throne ceremony

Queen Mary of Denmark radiated elegance today as she attended a service at the Church of the Throne with her husband King Frederick.

The newly appointed royal couple look happier than they have in recent weeks, taking their children – Crown Prince Christian, 18, Princess Isabella, 16, and twins Prince Vincent and Princess Josephine, 13, to Aarhus. We arrived at the cathedral.

Tasmanian-born Mary, 51, stunned in a custom-made purple Soren Le Schmidt coat dress made for Charles III’s coronation in May last year.

She wrapped herself up in a cozy shawl and leather gloves, and added a pillbox hat and court shoes to complete her look to protect herself from the snowy weather.

The mother-of-four added a touch of sparkle with a pair of Bruun Rasmussen diamond earrings that she bought at auction in 2022 and has worn several times.

Mary is famous for her fashion choices and often wears elegant ensembles made especially for her.

Her mid-length coat dress by Soren Le Schmidt features a shawl collar, wrap front and cinched waist, and is made in a deep purple hue.

This time, the Queen upped her accessories, opting for leather scalloped gloves and a complementary purple pillbox hat.

Her chestnut hair, on the other hand, was perfectly curled and styled in a half-up, half-down style.

King Frederik, 55, took the throne last Sunday after his mother Margrethe abdicated after 52 years as queen.

A celebratory portrait taken from inside Copenhagen’s Christiansborg Palace was posted on the Danish royal family’s Instagram page earlier this week.

The images showed the 51-year-old king and queen in full formal attire, alongside the couple’s four elegantly dressed children.

The scandal-plagued prince succeeded his 83-year-old mother’s incredible 50-year reign and became King of Denmark on January 14, 2024.

Amid a controversial year for the royal family, which has been plagued by deprivations and sordid rumors, Margrethe’s decision to abdicate the throne in honor of her eldest son surprised many.

This comes after an interview resurfaced revealing how Queen Mary barely met then-Crown Prince Frederik.

“The taxi arrived and I said, ‘Oh, okay, I just got in at the last minute.'”

This interview was conducted in 2004 and was recently republished.

But Mary and Frederick’s fairytale romance has come under scrutiny in recent weeks.

King Frederic has been under intense scrutiny since last year, when photos surfaced of the then-prince enjoying a night out in Madrid with Mexican socialite Genoveva Casanova.

A glamorous socialite, she vehemently denied claims of a romantic tryst with Frederick, even calling it “malicious.”

However, in newly released images, the monarchs can be seen smiling broadly at the camera with excitement, without showing any signs of sweat or adversity.
