The new Queen of Denmark chose a very special image to mark her first birthday as spouses.
Queen Mary shared a photo from her private album of herself with her beloved father John Donaldson.
The image was taken by Prince Vincent of Mary as the family was enjoying time together in Australia at the end of 2023, just before Mary learned she would become Queen.
The photo shows her looking happy and relaxed next to her smiling father.
The Danish royal family shared the commemoration as Queen Mary celebrated her 52nd birthday, the first since her husband Frederick X took over the throne.
In recent months, there has been speculation about John Donaldson’s health after he missed two major celebrations in Denmark. She will not be able to travel for her grandson Crown Prince Christian’s 18th birthday, scheduled for October 2023, and will also be in Copenhagen on the day her daughter becomes Queen Mary after her husband abdicates and ascends to the throne.
