It’s a sentiment that Mikkelsen can relate to, and one that the two seem passionate about. Arcel explained:
“We’re talking about doing something else together. It’s about going home and doing something. I’m going to give you a metaphor that Mads and I use sometimes. Imagine, and we’re playing.” In this playground, people leave us alone, and we’re having fun, and yeah, we’re just building sandcastles and , just doing what I love and having fun — that’s working in Denmark.
“Now put that playground in a building like a corporation, and a corporation in 55 suits will be watching you and telling you where to build your castle, how to build it, and when to build it. It will tell you what to build. It’s not perfect.” It’s already fun, but the playground is a little claustrophobic. ”

One of my favorite things about working with Mats is that not only is he a great actor, he’s so talented and a great person, but he’s also so sweet and great to work with. He is also a very kind and down-to-earth person. He is a true partner in the sense that he carries the story with me as a director, so I think he will worry about it just as seriously as I would as a director.
