Q8 launches new LNG station in Denmark

Must read

Q8 Denmark and its partners have opened a new refueling station for liquefied natural gas (LNG)-powered trucks in Hirtshals, Denmark.

The station is owned by a joint venture between Sweden’s OK ekonomisk förening (OK Economic Association) and Kuwait Petroleum International, which opened Denmark’s first truck LNG station in Padborg in 2022.

Q8 said in a statement that it has partnered with Hirtshals Port Foundation and Hirtshals Transport Center for the second LNG station.

Furthermore, the station, located at the Hirtshals Transport Center near the Port of Hirtshals, will enable the use of LNG-powered trucks on a par with diesel-powered trucks for transport throughout Jutland.

Q8 said it opened the station on February 7, but did not provide additional information about the facility.

Hirtshals Port said in a separate statement that the opening of the refueling station strengthens its position as a hub for cargo transport in Northern Europe.

The port says nearly 150,000 trucks pass through the port each year, and heavy-lift ground transportation stakeholders have increasingly focused on alternatives to diesel-powered trucks in recent years.

According to Denmark’s Regaco, the company will participate in the project carried out by Spain’s HAM and will also be involved in the service and maintenance of the plant.
