What will he do after abdicating the throne? Well, there’s no doubt that Queen Margrethe of Denmark is enjoying her rest and respite from her decades-long royal duties. In addition to this, she has also received numerous attractive presents from her beloved Danes.
An Instagram post from the Danish Royal Family’s account shared many lovely images of cards and other gifts made by Danish friends/subjects to wish the Queen well. Some of the artifacts on display were very impressive.
The photos featured some particularly impressive efforts, including the use of crumpled wrapping paper to represent the Queen’s hair, tiara, and dress. Visible in blue inside the crumpled pink wrapping paper was the famous sash of the Order of the Elephants. Above and to the right, we see a perhaps less elegant effort that utilizes more abstract forms of expression, but is still beautiful. Above it I saw the words “Tak for at have vaeret den bedsten dronning” or “Thank you for being the best queen”.

Another, more verbose message read: “Thank you for being a good regent.” I hope Prince Christian had a great birthday. I hope that Frederick X will be a good king. A few more slides down, there is a beautiful work signed by a boy named Theodore, in which gray fluff has been used to depict the Queen’s hair, and stars and snowflakes have been cut out as gorgeous royal jewellery.
