Armer answered further questions about the latest on the Irish manager’s job.
Another week is coming to an end and there is still no word on who will be the next Republic of Ireland manager.
As time passes and international games, albeit friendlies, are scheduled for next month, the FAI is under increasing pressure to appoint the next Irish manager.
Negotiations with the FAI’s first choice, Lee Carsley, are reportedly at an impasse. Earlier this week, former Ireland goalkeeper Shay Given said he understood Carsley would not be the next manager.
Former Republic of Ireland manager Brian Kerr expressed a similar view on Virgin Media.
Another candidate whose name has a lot to do with it is Neil Lennon. The 52-year-old has expressed an interest in becoming the next Ireland manager since the start of the process, and has said in the past that it was his dream job.
Last week, when giving an update on whether he would be appointed, he said the FAI’s process to find Stephen Kenny’s replacement was very rigorous and professional.
On Saturday, while working for Premier Sports, he answered further questions about the latest situation.
Regarding the timing of a decision on the next manager, Lennon said it was “imminent”.
“Whether it’s today, tomorrow, or a few days from now.
“I don’t know what the decision is, but I’m sure it will come out soon. I don’t know the decision yet.”
