The man somehow managed to slip through security and board the plane without ever presenting his passport or boarding pass.
The unidentified British man sneaked through the gate at Gatwick Airport on Monday and managed to board a Norwegian Air flight bound for Copenhagen, The Sun reported.
This is the second such incident in the news in recent weeks.
However, the man who boarded a flight to Copenhagen on Monday did not manage to reach his destination as the flight crew realized he was not supposed to be there and was subsequently escorted out by police.
A source told the newspaper, “Although the man did not have a passport or a ticket, he brazenly tailgated himself through the security checkpoint without being noticed by other passengers, and managed to board the plane at the gate.” he said.
“This is the second time something like this has happened recently. Security needs to be reviewed immediately.”
Sussex Police confirmed that officers removed the man from the plane just after midday, but reportedly described his removal as a medical incident.
A spokesperson said: “Officers assisted the airport security team following concerns for the man’s health.”
“In accordance with standard procedure, passengers were temporarily disembarked until the search was completed.
“They were then allowed to reboard the aircraft and then allowed to depart.”
It is understood that no criminal charges have been filed.
A week ago, it was revealed that another man, Craig Stewart, flew from the UK to New York without a passport or boarding pass.
