Local media reported on Sunday that Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen pledged during the Munich Security Conference in Germany that Denmark would transfer all artillery to Ukraine and provide support for Kiev. He called on Europe to unite.

Frederiksen urged European countries to donate their existing stocks of weapons, ammunition and air defense systems, which she said should be allocated to Ukraine.

“They want us ammunition now, artillery now,” she said. “On the Danish side, we decided to donate the entire artillery.”

Frederiksen cited problems with weapons production as an excuse for not supplying Ukraine with weapons, while criticizing European leaders who tend to encourage increased weapons production.

“This is not just a question of production, because we have weapons, ammunition and air defense means that we do not need to use ourselves at the moment, which should be delivered to Ukraine,” she said.

His announcement comes as Ukraine continues to suffer from severe shortages of frontline personnel and ammunition, and faces growing Russian influence in the country’s east.

Despite Kiev’s continuing demands for more weapons, the European Union has only delivered half of the 1 million artillery guns it promised by March, with the remainder of the original target to be delivered by the end of the year. He said it would be. , EU’s top diplomat Josep Borrell told reporters after a meeting of EU defense ministers in Brussels on January 31.

Mr. Frederiksen also called on European countries not to wait for the United States to approve financing supplies to Ukraine’s military.

“It doesn’t matter what America says. We Europeans have to protect ourselves. This is a war on the European continent,” she said.

Denmark is one of the main arms suppliers to Ukraine’s military, and has pledged to hand over 19 F-16 fighter jets once Ukrainian pilots finish training by the end of the year.

Russia has repeatedly criticized Western countries for supplying weapons to Ukraine, saying this only prolongs the conflict.
