Denmark held the National Melody Grand Prix 2024 tonight at DR Koncerthuset in Copenhagen.
After more than two hours and eight songs, all eyes were on the winner mackerel The song “Sand” will represent Denmark at the 2024 Eurovision Song Contest, which will be held in Malmö, just 20 kilometers from Concerttuset.
Out of eight competing acts, three songs made it to the super final: Saba, Basim and Janus Wiberg, as decided by the judges and the general audience via app/SMS throughout the week and during the show. At the Super Final, voting was reset and Danish viewers and judges selected Saba as the winner of the Dansk Melody Grand Prix 2024.

Saba Lucke Ehrenschlager (26) is a singer, actor, entrepreneur, model, and freelancer.
When Saba was eight months old, she and her identical twin sister, Andrea Rikke Ehrenschlager, were adopted by a family in Ringköving, Denmark, after being left as lost children in Ethiopia.
Her twin sister Andrea has achieved great success on the musical stage, and now Saba is ready to take over.
– It’s great to be able to stand on your own two feet as an artist and have your own songs. It feels good and I’m proud of this song, says Saba.
In 2023, she sang the lead role in the musical Hair at Copenhagen’s Ostre Gasvag Theater, replacing her pregnant twin sister Andrea.
Saba has been diagnosed with bipolar disorder and is an ambassador for the Danish Depression Association.
The Danish DR documentary “My Insane Twin” follows Saba and her identical twin sister Andrea, in which Saba openly talks about her own battle with mental illness and her and her sister’s adoption. Ta.
Dansk Melody Grand Prix 2024
The Dansk Melody Grand Prix 2024 was broadcast live from the DR Concerttuset in Copenhagen on Saturday, February 17th.
Voting had already begun five days before the performance. From Monday, February 12th until Friday, February 16th, people could cast their one vote for each song each day on the official DR Grand Prix app. This vote was added to the votes (app/SMS) received during Saturday’s show and combined with the jury votes. The top three songs (Saba, Basim and Janus Wiberg) advanced to the super finals. The voting was then reset and a new vote from among the three super finalists determined the Danish song for the 2024 Eurovision Song Contest.
While voting was taking place, we paid tribute to Dario Campiotto, who passed away last year. He represented Denmark in his 1961 Eurovision with the song “Angelique” and competed in various editions of the melody in his Grand Prix in the 60s and his 80s.
This year’s Denmark final was hosted by Sara Bro and Stefanie Srug.
Denmark participates in Eurovision Song Contest
Denmark has participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 51 times. Denmark has won this contest three times since it was first held in 1957.
