First Date Ireland returned to RTÉ2 on Thursday night to complete their first double date of the season. It was a very awkward blind date overseen by a sassy drag alter ego and a farmer looking for his wife. A brief summary is below.
Series 9 of First Dates Ireland begins as the friendly restaurant team of Maître de Matteo, Bartender Neil and Waiters Pete and Alice return to welcome the first Blind Date participants. Ta.
Mr Hanson, 24, from Louth, is embarking on a date under the watchful eye of his cheeky drag alter ego Pluto. Although he enjoys being single, he says he “wants to go along for the ride,” adding that he approaches this with an “open mind, open heart, and open legs.” Don’t watch this with your grandma.
He was due to meet Ciaran, 24, from Dublin, who had been preparing for the date by “canning in the shower”.
Things get off to a shaky start, with Ciaran seemingly looking up to Han-sung’s cocktail order, dessert selection, and conversation starters (what’s your birthday/zodiac sign)? As the date progresses, it becomes more and more awkward. When Alice comes in with her bill, Hansun makes Ciaran pay without her offer to split it.
Naturally, both parties are adamant no to another date.
On the first double date of the series, wild and flirtatious Stephen (28) from Athlone brings along his trusted wingman James (27) from Cavan to find love. They will be joined by Jade, 26, from Newry, and Siobhan, 24, from County Mayo.
Jade is looking for a man who can keep up with her. But as long as he knows she doesn’t wear the pants in their relationship. She began her entrance by telling Maître d’Mateo that she looked “much better” in real life than on TV. I don’t know how she’ll take it…but to be fair to her, she says she likes to make people “writhe in agony.”
The ominous atmosphere continues when Stephen wonders out loud who his date is, and seems to think it’s Siobhan because she matches some of the things she asked for on the form…in fact. , he is paired with Jade. After all, who wanted his friend?
“When I saw you, I thought, he’s cute, he’s not for me,” Jade tells Steven honestly as they sit down. awkward.
But while they both admit that the other person isn’t their usual type, they were pleasantly surprised when they sat down for a chat.
Both were yes until the second date.
James is proud of his positive energy and is looking for the “girl next door.” He is paired with self-proclaimed “cheeky monkey” Siobhan, 24, from County Mayo. When he sat down with her date, he was clearly very nervous, but he told her he hoped she was his date.
James is a “presenter of presents” (no, we didn’t even know that was a job) and Siobhan works with special needs adults.
They both have similar attitudes to life, saying they are happy being single but ready to find love.
James flies to Paris for his long-distance girlfriend’s birthday in America, impressing Siobhan by telling her that their best date was a boat ride by the Eiffel Tower. By comparison, Siobhan’s best dates were picnics on the road. James promises they’ll top that if they’re “lucky” to secure a second date.
When the bill comes, Siobhan lets him take it because she intends to pay the next bill.
Farmer Tom, 41, from Killorglin, Co Kerry, has been single for some time but today he is stepping out of his comfort zone in the hope of changing that.
“A few years ago, it didn’t bother me at all, but I definitely don’t want to be alone for the rest of my life,” he says, adding that he always thinks about it on Christmas Day, when he spends time with his family. It revolves around finding him a woman, God loves him.
He was matched with a Dutch woman, Ellie (32). She herself currently lives in County Kerry and she is looking for a gentleman who “knows what she wants”.
The two seem to have hit it off, and Tom says he’s “so glad” it’s all over. “She’s a brunette and she’s wholesome,” he says with a smile.
For another date, both are yes. Tom kept the bill as a keepsake. ah.
