George Clooney joked that he “almost died” on his last trip to Ireland. The Hollywood actor said that after his last visit to the Emerald Isle, he had to “take out his liver and wash it.”
Clooney, 62, said he feels a deep connection to his Irish roots. His great-great-grandfather left County Kilkenny for America during the Great Famine.
He said, “Irish stuff? Clooney? Come on, come on.
“I had a great time visiting Ireland, meeting lots of my Clooney relatives, and a lot of them.
“I didn’t understand, but the moment I got there, I started seeing a lot of people who looked like my family. We all left here during the potato famine, our So was my family.”
Mr Clooney said he wanted to return to Ireland to research his family tree. Speaking to Miriam O’Callaghan on RTÉ Radio One, he said: “After a week in Ireland I had to go home because my liver had to be taken out and washed. I almost died. , I had a great time. I love it.” There.

Clooney also revealed that he has a close friendship with actress Eve Hewson, the daughter of U2 frontman Bono. He said, “Eve is my good friend.”
Clooney is directing “Boys in the Boat,” starring Callum Turner. Turner is about to begin working with Hewson on Hedda, a film adaptation of Henrik Ibsen’s 1891 stage play Hedda Gabler.
