Cyber ​​attacks and data breaches pose the biggest risk to Irish businesses, according to new research.

Aon’s Global Risk Management Survey gathered insights from 2,842 respondents across 61 countries, including Ireland, to identify the most pressing business challenges.

The research found that 94% of Irish businesses have a formal plan or are considering a process to reduce cyber risk.

Failing to attract and retain top talent in the current tight labor market has risen eight places since the previous survey in 2021 to become the fifth top risk identified by Irish businesses.

The risks posed by climate change for Irish businesses have also increased significantly, rising 21 places to 10th place on the list of top current risks.

Supply chain or distribution failure has emerged as number three among the risks currently facing Irish businesses.

Rachel Ingle, CEO of Aon Ireland, said: “The world is becoming more volatile, with profound changes in trade, technology, weather and workforce issues impacting businesses across Ireland. ” he said.
