This stunning image was taken by photographer Dennis Stenild shortly after the King’s proclamation from the balcony of the Throne Room on January 14th.

Mary looked beautiful in a stylish white dress adorned with a sparkling silver brooch. Meanwhile, Princess Josephine looked incredibly elegant in a bright red coat, while her sister Isabella opted for a chic black coat adorned with gold buttons, borrowed from her mother Queen Mary.

Meanwhile, brothers Christian and Vincent both wore smart navy blue suits.

The photo was taken after the royal couple appeared on the balcony for the first time as king and queen on January 14.

The Danish Royal Family’s official Instagram account captioned the photo: “The Throne Room at Christiansborg Castle is the frame for the first official portrait of Their Majesties the King and Queen.

Queen Margrethe II’s abdication came as a shock to fans of the royal family when it was announced during her annual speech on New Year’s Day. In an exclusive appearance on HELLO!’s A Right Royal podcast, journalist Wim Dehanschatter explained the “emotional reasons” behind the former Queen’s decision to abdicate.

“Margrethe became a widow after the death of her husband, Prince Henrik. She also caused uproar over her decision to strip her four grandchildren of their royal titles of prince and princess. Margrethe also received criticism from herself. “For her family, it became world news, and in that moment she was portrayed as a ruthless person. And for her, she did this to alleviate royal duties and expectations for her grandchildren.” I think they didn’t understand because they thought they were doing it.”

In the episode, hosts Andrea and Emmy also spoke to ITV News Royal correspondent Chris Shipp and Majesty magazine editor-in-chief Joe Little. Listen to the full episode here.
