Afghanistan will play an all-format series against Sri Lanka and Ireland after the T20I series in India

After the T20I series against India, Afghanistan will play all-format series against Sri Lanka and Ireland in February and March.

Afghanistan will play Sri Lanka in a one-off Test from February 2 at the Sinhala Sports Club in Colombo. The Asian giants will then cross swords in a three-match ODI series starting February 9, before the T20Is begin on February 17 in Dambulla.

After the tour of Sri Lanka, Afghanistan will head to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to face Ireland in a Test, ODI and T20I series. The one-off test will be held at Abu Dhabi’s Sheikh Zayed Stadium.

The ODIs between Afghanistan and Ireland will be held on March 7, 9 and 12 before the T20I series begins on March 15.

With a number of T20Is scheduled over the next two months, it is clear that Afghanistan do not want to leave no stone unturned in the run-up to the T20 World Cup, which will be held in West Indies and the United States.

“2024 will be a very busy and exciting year for the Afghanistan national team,” Afghanistan Cricket Board CEO Naseeb Khan was quoted as saying.

“The upcoming trips to India, Sri Lanka and the home series against Ireland will help prepare the team for the all-important T20 World Cup. (We are) looking forward to multiple series ” he said.
