This week’s show looks at the presidential election and how first-time voters approach it.
This week on the All Points North podcast, we ask how young and first-time voters could influence the upcoming presidential election on January 28th.
Pekka IsotaroResearchers at the University of Helsinki say political interest among young people may be on the rise.
“Voter turnout in Finland, especially among young people voting for the first time, was previously very low, with less than 50 per cent of young people aged 18 to 24 voting, but in the last parliamentary elections already 58 per cent of young voters turned out to vote. In that sense, the participation of young people is increasing,” Isotaro said.
We need to understand which political parties young voters support, how they get information about politics, and how their actions may affect their campaigns. Check out. Today’s young voters may be informed about candidates through social media, but they may be more conservative in their political views than their parents.
