Last week, Danish broadcaster DR announced the eight artists and songs that will be competing in the Dansk Melody Grand Prix 2024, with a chance to represent Denmark at Eurovision in May.
Nine members of the Aussie Vision team ranked the Danish songs from 1st to 6th, giving them 12, 10, 8, 6, 4, and 2 points.
The results are as follows.
8. Stella – “Please sign here” (26 points)
High price: 12 points mark. Emma 8 points.
Lowest score: 0 points John Christian, Dale, Stephen, Kyriakos, Fleur.
“Among the pack of really solid and approachable sounding songs, I stand by the entries that instantly appealed to my tastes. ‘Sign Here’ has a melancholic quality within the tradition of the country genre. Miley Cyrus’s gravelly vocals tell the story of a man who has never lived before. ” ~mark
6th place Janus Wiberg – “I Need Your Love” (32 points)
High score: 6 points Sam, Stephen, Emma, Keel.
Lowest score: Mark and Kyriakos 2 points. 0 points John Christian & Dale.
6. Chu Chu – “The Chase (ZoomZoom)” (32 points)
High: 10 points Fleur. 8 points John Christian.
Law: 2 points Stephen & Kiel. 0 points Sam, Mark, Emma.
This is a fun song. It’s catchy and a banger. I’m not a winner, but that’s okay. ” ~ Fleur
4. Basim – “Johnny” (46 points)
High score: 10 points John Christian, Sam, Mark. Keel 8 points.
Lowest score: Dale & Fleur 2 points. 0 points Stephen and Emma.
“We didn’t expect this contestant to come back, but with more of an ode to a friend than a cheesy farewell song, this will definitely be a favorite. Also, this is one of the best contestants to come back for Eurovision. He has an advantage because he’s the only one with that experience.” ~ John Christian
“It’s great to see Basim come back after 10 years with a song that’s a lot more conventional than last time. Not only does this song tell a very unique story, but it also tells a lot of stories about death and There’s also some pretty deep discussion about ritual, which is juxtaposed with some pretty upbeat songs with a catchy beat, true Basim style.I’m delighted to see him represent Denmark again.” ~Sam
“Eurovision is lacking in country and storytelling, and Jonny will solve both of those problems. Though the guitar vamp on Love Story underneath the verses feels borderline plagiarism. , will attract a lot of people. The lyrics are deceptively dark for an upbeat number. Perhaps a little sonically dissonant and not exactly Contest Matatabi. But among the songs on offer, It’s a song that stays with you after the first listen.” ~ Mark
4. Ublu – “Planetary Hearts” (46 points)
High scores: Stephen, Kyriakos and Kiel with 10 points. Dale 8 points.
Lowest score: 2 points Emma. 0 points Sam, Mark, Fleur.
“Mixing electropop and 2000s-ish rock doesn’t always work, but it does work here. You get a Pet Shop Boys-like vibe with a harder, guitar-edgy edge. And no one likes a space theme at Eurovision. I came in a close second.” ~ Stephen
“What a beat!! This song is so appealing! It’s very approachable pop, very approachable sounding, and I’m totally fine with that.” ~ Kyriakos
“If Saba don’t win somehow, Denmark might as well send them in. The production on this song is sophisticated, and they have enough novelty value to appeal to domestic Europop aficionados. could be enough to stop a series of bombings in the country in the semi-finals.” ~ Kiel
3. Aura Dione – “Mirror Ball of Hope” (52 points)
High: 12 points John Christian and Stephen. 8 point mark.
Lowest score: 4 points Sam and Emma. 0 points Kyriakos & Kiel.
“This appearance will put an end to Denmark’s dire situation. No one is expected to be that good and the up-tempo of that appearance will put an end to Denmark’s dire situation. It will cancel out Norway’s expectations.” ~John Christian
“I loved the Camp Disco title even before I listened to it, and when I actually listened to it, I enjoyed this song more than the song I chose for second place because of its heavy vocalization and catchy beat. The spoken word part is boring, but the overall package is now tolerable.” ” ~Steven
2. Mackerel – “Sand” (72 points)
High: 12 points Emma and Keel. Dale 10 points.
Lowest score: 4 points mark. 2 points John Christian.
Definitely my favorite of this year’s Danish lineup. With great production, this anthemic track is well-constructed and is typical of much of the Scandi pop we’ve seen at the regional national finals over the past few years. It is not surprising that this song was written by the famous Swedish singer-songwriter Melanie Wehbe, who was a contestant at last year’s Melody Festival. Because of this, it sounds like you’ve heard it before, but you can’t quite pinpoint it. Although the ending lacks a bit of punch, this is definitely a track to add to your playlist. ” ~ Emma
“Denmark – You have one job to do. Give Saba the DMK crown/tiara/whatever – and your chances of winning for the third time on Swedish soil will skyrocket. It gave me goosebumps to hear it, as well as Norway’s Miia and ‘Green Lights’, another one of my last national favorites. The song is about half a chorus too short, but everything else has the hallmarks of a Eurovision winner. Produced correctly and delivered with enough conviction, just forget about it. If you make it through the semi-finals, Saba may be on her way to becoming the new Eurovision queen and Copenhagen better get ready for a big party.”
“This song has some great elements with real power and moments. My only criticism is that even when it promises to deliver something, it sometimes falls a little short.” Saba If we can deliver this song live, this song has a good chance of winning.” ~ Dale
1. RoseeLu – “Real Love” (72 points)
Since the scores for 1st and 2nd place were tied, a tie-break was adopted using the highest score of 12 points. RoseeLu was given his 4th set of 12 points and Saba was given 2 sets. Therefore, “Real Love” won the tiebreaker.
High scores: Dale, Sam, Kyriakos, Fleur with 12 points. Emma 10 points.
Lowe’s: 4 points John Christian & Stephen. Keel 0 points.
“It’s such great pop. It’s got a really soothing structure that reminds me of a more subdued version of Cherry Cole’s ‘Fight for This Love.’ Great melody, lovely little hook that gets you hooked.” .The perfect little Scandi pop!” ~ Dale
“I really enjoyed this entry. Yes, it’s a generic Danish Eurovision pop song, but I think it’s one of the best to grace the DMGP stage in recent years. The repeated phrase “It’s Is it really love?” ~Sam
“This song hit home right away! I love the tempo, the big chorus, and RoseeLu’s vocals. I hope she does something big with her staging.” ~ Kyriakos
“I really like this song. The first verse changes the progression from a generic song to a memorable song. It’s sung well and would be a decent entry at Eurovision. Of course, Eurovision I hope I can participate in Vision.” ~Fleur
“RoseeLu has quite the back catalog in her native Denmark, and ‘Real Love’ should do well as long as it sells live. Vocally she reminds me of Tate McRae, but this song is a must-see for Eurovision nationals.” It follows the more traditional pop structure that many associate with “Perhaps it lacks the big wow moment for me, but it’s enough to make it a solid entry if it wins the Dansk Melody Grand Prix.” There are enough elements. ” ~Emma
