Bank of Ireland today opened the latest addition to its national network of hybrid working hubs.
Based at Bank of Ireland Douglas in Cork, the new hub offers a range of hot desks and meeting rooms for all Bank of Ireland staff, whether based in the region or visiting from other areas. .
Douglas is Bank of Ireland’s 16th remote working location to open since 2021, providing desk space for 36 employees.
Bank of Ireland has so far invested €2.5 million in the hub network, with a focus on IT upgrades, reconfiguration and building refurbishment.
Most Bank of Ireland staff can work from a combination of home, central office locations and a network of hybrid working hubs, depending on their role.
The Douglas Hub joins 15 other Bank of Ireland hybrid working locations in Balbriggan, Ballycoolin, College Green Atrium, Dundalk, Galway, Gorey, Limerick, Mullingar, Naas, Newbridge, Newlands Cross, Northern Cross, Omagh, Santry and Swords. Complements the hub.
A survey carried out by the bank at the end of 2023 found that 85% of Bank of Ireland staff felt that the hybrid working model supported their work-life balance, an increase of 3% on the previous year.
Irish Banking Group CEO Miles O’Grady said the bank’s aim was to be one of the best places to work in Ireland, and this included a combination of hybrid working, progressive talent policies and competition. He said there are three core elements: competitive wages.
“Hybrid working, which offers many of our colleagues greater flexibility in terms of how they work, is therefore an important part of our proposition as an employer,” Mr O’Grady said.
“We are committed to a flexible approach because it works. It is beneficial to our colleagues and it makes commercial sense, and these are the reasons we continue to invest in it.” he added.
