Basketball Ireland’s official Instagram account has been restored by Meta, the association has announced.

The association was informed of the incident by email from the company shortly after 5pm on Sunday, stating that the account had been deleted by mistake.

Basketball Ireland said it would like to thank those who helped resolve the issue.

On Sunday, February 11th, I became inaccessible to my Instagram page, and on Wednesday, February 14th, I received an automated message from Meta informing me that my Instagram page had been permanently disabled.

The paper noted that there was “increased media and social media attention” around the FIBA ​​Women’s EuroBasket 2025 qualifying match between Ireland and Israel.

Meanwhile, Ireland men’s head coach Mark Keenan has named three uncapped players in his final 12-man squad for Thursday’s FIBA ​​Basketball World Cup 2027 European Qualifier against Kosovo.
