A picturesque town in the south-west of Ireland has been named the most romantic spot in the country. Killarney, County Kerry has been named number one as the best place for couples to spend time in Ireland, along with nine other places on the list.
Data compiled by Hello Fresh Ireland, a fresh food delivery box service, revealed that Killarney was the winner thanks to its “romantic, affordable and wide range of data options”. This food brand analyzed over 30 of her cities and towns across Ireland to find the ultimate romantic destination.
Killarney, Sligo, Ennis, Navan and Shannon round out the top five. A Hello Fresh Ireland spokesperson said: “Data experts evaluated each location across a variety of categories including accommodation options, dining experiences, entertainment options and affordability.
“Killarney boasts some of the most romantic hotels and accommodation per capita, and offers some of the most affordable food and wine options. For couples looking for a dreamy getaway without breaking the bank, Killarney offers some of the most romantic hotels and accommodation per capita. This is heaven.”
They continued: “But it’s not just Killarney that can charm Irish hearts. Sligo claims second place for its choice of romantic hotels, closely followed by Ennis, which scores very highly for its affordability. Masu.”
The survey also gave hopeless romantics an insight into Ireland’s food scene. In Clonmel, a meal for two in a mid-range restaurant with three courses costs €100, while in Longford the same experience costs just €52.50.
Navan emerges as the most economical option with a ticket price of 7.25 euros, while Greystones comes with a premium reaching 14 euros for tickets. However, Clonmel is perfect for a date night and offers some of the most affordable bottles of wine at €8. Waterford, on the other hand, costs 18 euros.
