Belgium will send two F-16 jets and about 50 personnel to Denmark from March to September 2024 to train Ukrainian pilots, RTBF reported, citing Belgian Defense Ministry officials. The plan was announced.
The initiative forms part of the F-16 coalition, which is made up of 13 countries, including Belgium, under the leadership of Denmark, the Netherlands and the United States.
The Belgian Ministry of Defense has announced that two Belgian two-seat training F-16s will be stationed in Denmark during a training mission. The official detailed that the training program will include not only pilots, but also Ukrainian engineers and mission planners.
On January 3, Norwegian Defense Minister Bjorn Arild Gram announced that Norway would send two F-16 fighter jets to help train Ukrainian pilots on US-made aircraft in Denmark.
On December 22, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy Said The Dutch government plans to deliver 18 F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine. The French Ministry of Defense announced in December that France would participate in training Ukrainian pilots for Western multi-role fighter jets in early 2024.
